If you want to experience something unique or full of adrenaline during your visit to Slovenia, we recommend reviewing the following tips for an active and interesting way of spending your free time in Slovenia, a country between the Alps and the Mediterranean.

Here are ten really cool things you can do in Slovenia:

  • Visit the Soča Valley: The valley of the world-famous Soča River, an alpine river of emerald green color, offers many opportunities for active holidays. Treat yourself to rafting on the crystal-clear river, zip-line, canyoning along the tributaries of the Soča River, or enjoying the numerous top restaurants that offer visitors pampering in the villages of the Soča Valley. Warning: Adventures can be addictive. You will definitely want to come back to the Soča Valley again.
  • Climbing Triglav: Slovenia’s highest mountain, at 2,863 m, is also the highest peak in the Southern Limestone Alps. The spectacular trail that leads along the ridge from Mali to Veliki Triglav is one of the most interesting in the Eastern Alps. It offers an incredibly beautiful view that extends all the way to the Dolomites and the Grossglockner in Austria, but beware: the route is only suitable for the most durable and requires at least basic climbing skills and appropriate mountaineering equipment!
  • Visit the Postojna Cave: one of the largest underground caves in the world will amaze you. Huge underground caves, magnificent stalactites and the human fish, a unique cave animal, will amaze you. An underground train takes you through the cave.
  • Skydiving: For adrenaline junkies only. It is possible to jump from an airplane or a hill – alone or in tandem. Warning: not for the faint of heart!
  • Learn to ski: despite its small size, Slovenia has several charming winter resorts that offer excellent skiing. Enjoy the snow from November to May. Tip: also visit two remnants of glaciers that you can explore below Triglav (Julian Alps) and Skuta (Kamniško-Savinjske Alps). Many ski guides are available for beginners, either in group or individual lessons.
  • Take part in wine tasting: Slovenia has an excellent geographical position. The entire territory lies in a belt that is suitable for viticulture. Slovenia is divided into 3 wine-growing regions: Primorska, Podravska and Posavska. One of the best, Primorska, is also described as Slovenia’s Tuscany. Visit the attractive hills of Brda and treat yourself to a private wine-tasting. Suitable for anyone over the age of 18.
  • Shopping in Ljubljana: we do not mean modern shopping, but a walk through the old city center, where there are several extremely interesting boutiques that offer original Slovenian fashion, products of local crafts and food typical of local cuisine. Indulge in the laid-back vibe of the capital and explore the hidden corners of one of the smallest capitals in the world.
  • Fishing on Unica: one of the most beautiful areas for fly-fishing for brown trout and grayling in the world, it is located halfway between Ljubljana and Trieste. An untouched karst river flows through the karst field, and in its bowels hides many capital fish. Rest your soul in unspoiled nature and in crystal clear karst water.
  • Explore many castles: Slovenia is dotted with many castles. According to the number of inhabitants, Slovenia is one of the countries with the most castles, right after the Czech Republic and Wales. Explore the castles, the life of former nobles, and you can also spend the night in the castle, treat yourself to a superb lunch or a wedding. The unique castle is located on Otočec, on a river island.
  • Drive along the panoramic road: in Slovenia you can visit two high mountain panoramic roads. Both are located in the Julian Alps, the first leads from Kranjska Gora to Bovec (Vršič), and the second winds under Mount Mangart. If the roads are not covered with snow, which is properly marked, you can enjoy the precipices and the beautiful views that will take your breath away.

But you know what is the best? That you can process all of the above by yourself, with your car, within a period of 1 week. You can rent a car from Agio and enjoy exploring one of the most beautiful corners of Europe. Recommend us to your friends!

We wish you safe driving!
