How to travel around Slovenia<\/h2><\/div>

Agio<\/strong> is probably the best rental car in town. Rent-a-car in Ljubljana<\/strong> and Brnik<\/strong>. Car rental from 25 EUR<\/strong> onwards.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Slovenia is a small Central European country with an area of \u200b\u200bjust over 20,000 square kilometers. It is one of the smallest countries in the world, even smaller than Switzerland, Belgium and, for example, South Carolina in the USA. Which means of transport are the most comfortable for traveling around Slovenia?<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>

Throughout the year, this small country between the Alps and the Mediterranean has a lot to offer. Many tourists and visitors from nearby countries enjoy the family-friendly ski resorts and numerous thermal resorts in the winter, explore the countryside and medieval towns in the spring and autumn, and cool off in the Mediterranean Sea or high in the Alps in the summer. Which means of transport can be used to explore Slovenia (in the simplest way)?<\/p>\n<\/div>

Start your journey in magical Ljubljana, where you can walk through the beautiful streets of the Old Town, admire the Ljubljana Castle and let yourself be overwhelmed by the pleasant atmosphere in the central square. Continue your journey towards Bled, where you will experience a real fairy tale by the shore of the lake, where the picturesque Bled Castle rises. For adventurers, the Triglav National Park is an ideal destination for hiking, cycling and discovering natural beauty.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Bus<\/h3><\/h1><\/div>

One of the most popular means of transport in Slovenia is certainly the bus. Many city and suburban lines provide good coverage in all seasons and for most of the day. Only a few buses run at night, mostly on international routes.<\/p>\n

Due to the small size of the country, traveling by bus is relatively reliable, time-acceptable and affordable.<\/p>\n

If you choose to travel by bus, always check the timetable, especially the return timetable. Buses run frequently on some lines, but not on others. It may happen that the bus will not run at all over the weekend, i.e. on Saturday or Sunday.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Airplane<\/h3><\/h1><\/div>

There are three international and numerous local, smaller airports in Slovenia. Despite the fact that Slovenians are at the very top of the world in terms of the number of airplanes per 100,000 inhabitants, moving within Slovenia by airplane is not particularly widespread, except for tourist purposes (panoramic summers). You will usually only arrive in Slovenia by plane, and within Slovenia you will use one of the other means of transport to move around.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Personal car<\/h3><\/h1><\/div>

Traveling around Slovenia is the fastest and most comfortable in terms of time with a private car. The country is small, but the road connections are excellent. The highway cross connects Italy, Austria and Hungary with one leg, and Austria and Croatia with the other leg. To travel on highways, the vehicle must have a vignette.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Train<\/h3><\/h1><\/div>

In recent years, the railway infrastructure in Slovenia has undergone numerous improvements and upgrades. Nevertheless, traveling by train in Slovenia is relatively slow but romantic. Almost all major cities are connected to the railway network, and Slovenia has excellent railway connections with the cities of Vienna, Munich, Prague, Budapest, Venice, Milan, Zagreb and Belgrade.<\/p>\n

Slovenian cities, including the capital Ljubljana, are small. There is no metro in them, but mostly bus public transport in combination with the train. In Ljubljana, a combination of city bus and train is popular. The distance from one end of the city to the other, which is about 15 to 20 km, can be covered by train in a few minutes.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Ship<\/h3><\/h1><\/div>

The port of Koper is one of the largest ports on the Adriatic coast and an important window to the world. Within Slovenia, there are a few smaller passenger lines between the seaside towns of Piran, Izola, Koper and Ankaran, but they are mostly limited to the summer period, when there are thousands of tourists in the region.<\/p>\n

Public shipping on inland waters in Slovenia is not interesting for travel.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Helicopter<\/h3><\/h1><\/div>

Traveling by helicopter is only exceptionally useful in Slovenia. There are a few private helicopters available to take you to most tourist destinations. Nevertheless, the helicopter is not a commonly used means of transport in Slovenia.<\/p>\n

In addition to the helicopters used by members of the army, police and rescue units, there are several private helicopters in Slovenia, which tourists can see especially in the Alps. They are used there to transport cargo and, exceptionally, also to transport people.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Bike, electric storage<\/h3><\/h1><\/div>

To overcome short distances (up to 20 km), locals prefer to use bicycles, electric scooters, or go on foot. Moving with such means of transport is not only environmentally friendly, but also very beneficial for the body. Especially in spring and summer, when there are longer periods of dry weather, moving with the mentioned means of transport in cities is very time efficient.<\/p>\n<\/div>
